Oceans are Great - but only if you know how to Sail on them (or SELL on them)

So as promised at the end of my last post - what does it mean to have such a clear vision for your company that it actually will have an impact on revenue and on margins?
Well it appears that the people in your company could be described by 4 possible views.
1.They don't even know what your vision is = zero/negative impact.
2.They have it wrong - negative impact.
3.They know but don't believe - really negative impact.
4.They know it, believe it and live it - positive impact.
So it might seem reduntant at this point to say this but clearly there is no neutral ground. It begins with you, the leader, the CEO, the Entrepeneur - what number are you? It is vital to have a clear undertsanding of your "blue ocean" but it is also vital that you know how to explain that in simple terms for your people and your customers - we call this positioning. Do you have a crystal clear positioning statement that is simple, honest, accurate, repeatable and lays out what you do in terms of "helping" people?
When early navigators and explorers like Magellan, Diaz and Columbus started sailing west from Europe in the late 15th century they faced a problem. They had the vision of unexplored land but many of them lacked sailing skills. Sailors at the time lacked vision and were scared - both had to come together in order for great things to happen.
