Resistance to Change

Dave invited Frank Belzer and I to move our blogs to this site a few weeks ago. He invited Chris Mott to start his Sales Expeditor blog here too. So, I've been dragging my feet for no particular reason. Chris has posted a couple of times. Frank did a great post about his vision. So, what's up with me?

I'm pretty sure that I'm gonna move my blog over here, but if you were me, would you change anything else?

COMMENTS

Don't change anything - "you is you"!

Maybe more of Elaine. After all she is an Aries.

I'm glad you guys are moving onto one URL. You guys are going to be a FORCE now working together on SEO, blogversations and social media. This is an awesomely smart move for ALL of you. I LOVE it.

As far as changing anything else, I'd love to hear more stories, Rick. Lately, your blog posts have been heavy on calls to action, asking for referrals.

I want more how to, lessons, stories, tips, etc.

This is a great idea. I love to see all of these great blogs in a single format. It's also nice to be able to see the photographs. I find that a written essay or comment is much more meaningful if I have a clear picture in my mind of the person who wrote it.

Of course, being the kinesthete that I am (I'll check later to see if that is a real word), I think y'all look far too formal in your coat and tie portraits.

Warnings - Don't let the group tie-in limit your freedom. Keep the occasional personal content in place.

I do not think you should move or change anything ---like it was said before ---"Why change a good thing"?? You will be just another face in the crowd. Confusing, sometimes, to read too many items at once. You ar no longer unique.

Rick,

I agree with Mom.

At Centrend, I help business managers and owners make decisions about technology all the time. If you asked my professional opinion about whether you should switch, I would have a lot of questions for you. I don’t believe anyone should change a technology that is working unless there are business benefits to making the switch. Many of these questions have nothing to do with technology, and much more to do with your business goals. Here’s a few to get you started:

1. What is the objective of switching?

2. Are there personal benefits?

3. Are there career/business benefits?

4. From a search engine ranking perspective, you and Dave and others he hosts from his site benefit from being able to link and refer to each other. Will switching hurt either of your search traffic?

5. Unless the existing blog can be imported to the new space, you are losing a lot of archived articles that are valuable to your readers.

There are many other questions I would, but it all comes down to whether you can answer your Mom’s simple question: Why change a good thing?

I think we have to discount The Archaeologist's comment as being inherently biased.
