I subscribe to SalesQuotes. Every weekday morning I get an inspirational quote in my inbox that's been selected specifically for sales professionals. The email also includes a tidbit.

Today's quote was from Bill Gates.

"Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning."

Interesting.

Here's the tidbit. "In 1975, Paul Allen and Bill Gates saw a magazine cover shot of the MITS Altair 8800-a kit computer. The need was identified, a cold call was inspired and made and MITS became Micro-soft's customer (the name was originally hypenated).

First year sales were $16,005 followed by $22,496 in 1976. It was 1978 when the million dollar mark was first crossed."

WAIT A SECOND....WHAT WAS THAT?

....a cold call was....made?

Microsoft was started by a cold call? How cool is that? OK. I guess if it was good enough for Bill Gates it's good enough for me. How about you? Did you make a cold call today?

Here's a link to the article.

Hi Rick,
My entire business is based on a Cold Call I made (in person) to Teamworks. 7 Years later (and lots of relationships later), I have my own thriving gym here in Marlboro that I bought from them in July. A "no soliciting sign" means "Welcome! come on in!" to me.
